Dropping in for locals? There is a tension between wanting to make a space for everyone to participate as they can and wanting to keep a container so we can build practice space with each other.  So, the working rules around dropping in are as follows… As long as you pay the full registration, come and go as you like.  This will ideally create a good ‘buy-in’ from everyone to make a container and hopefully the relatively low fee for the event will make this not-so-much of a barrier for people who can only do part of the jam.  If you really can only come for a short window and can’t pay the whole registration fee, write to us and maybe we can work something out.

While we are making this a very affordable event, we are also using it as a Fundraiser. Yes, by keeping the price low for something that a lot of people want, we expect a lot of people will come and we will have extra money at the end!

Things are really heating up in the world of fossil fuel extraction with more and more toxic processes being used by industry and environmental regulations being dismantled across North America.    Extra funds raised from the jam are going to be donated in two directions.

  • The first is Unist’ot’en Camp, a blockade currently being run by the Unist’ot’en people of north central British Columbia on their lands against the passage of tar sands oil  pipelines or fracked gas pipelines through their traditional territories.  They are putting themselves on the line to protect not only their own lands but all the lands and waterways that would be affected by these projects.
  • The second is to organizations engaged effectively in educating Californians about the fracking processes that have been going on here.  Fracking companies have been dumping toxic waste water straight into the ocean off of Santa Barbara and straight into the aquifers of the central valley which supply drinking water and irrigation water to thousands.  Because of Bush era changes in US environmental laws, there is little that the government can do, and because of the erosion of other environmental laws, fines when applied are often minimal, less than the cost of proper disposal, so they continue to dump their toxic backwash into the waters we drink and use for food.

If you want to know more about these issues and/or would like to send more money on write to info@bodyresearch.org
