Investigating Contact at Burning Man...

There will be a lot of things going on through Contact Camp, much of which depends on your participation.

Of interest to everyone, whether novices or experienced dancers, we will be hosting open events every day... classes in the fundamentals of contact improvisation, special focus contact classes and labs, workshops in other subjects that relate to contact work, as well as open jams, both at Contact Camp and a daily morning jam at Center Camp at 10:30AM. Some of these will be posted in the WhatWhereWhen, but many will be organized at Burning Man... drop by camp for a posting of events. There will usually be something going on.

(this will be updated as we getr closer to the burn and have more proposals in. More will be added as we get to the playa, so do come by camp and check out the bulletin board for events that arise while we are on-playa.

For those with more time in contact, there is space to propose special focus labs or organize labs ... lift techniques, release work, focus jams, or wherever your inspiration goes... come share your cutriosities or just see what arises.

To be part of the organic process of making events happen, get in touch with us and/or come to one of the community meetings that we will be having both before Burning Man and out on the playa. In addition to the Center Camp jams and the fundamentals classes that we pre-planned, there have arisen organically at camp classes and labs in martial arts, partner yoga, parkour, inversions and hand stands, authentic movement, butoh, vocal improvisation and circle singing, contemplative movement, and capoiera Angola as well as contact jams with live dj’d music, performances, and the blindfolded Axolotl participatory performance piece.

The center of our focus, however, is the practice of contact improvisation.

If you are an experienced contact teacher, are going to be attending Burning Man (whether or not you are staying at Contact Camp), and are interested in teaching one of our Fundamentals of Contact classes, let us know!

We will have multiple work spaces, and we hope that they get a lot of use

As we get closer to the burn, our schedule of pre-planned events will be updated, and at the burn we hope to organize more as we see who has arrived and what curiosities we bring.
